With the recognition that osteoarthritis is a disease of the whole joint, the organizers led past symposia to discuss the interaction of joint tissues in joint health and disease. These meetings, including the Joint Crosstalk Symposium in 2016, sponsored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the Symposium on Skeletal Contributions to Joint Degeneration and Osteoarthritis, sponsored by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research in 2018, raised important questions for future study. At the 5-year interval since the 2016 meeting, the current symposium revisits these key questions, bringing in new voices and ideas, to chart the course for the future research on crosstalk within and beyond the joint in osteoarthritis.

Join us to discuss the latest discoveries in joint crosstalk in health and disease.

  • Complement the conversation in clinical OA research and stimulate translation
  • Recruit and promote new talent within the field – including groups beyond basic MSK
  • Identify priority research areas and strategies to drive progress
