Open Position: University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center; Jialiang Wang Lab
The Charles and Jane Pak Center for Mineral Metabolism and Clinical Research (CMMCR) at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow (1) and Research Technician (1) in the newly opening Dr. Jialiang (Shirley) Wang laboratory. Dr. Wang’s postdoctoral research was done at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical University, where her work utilized multi-omics approaches to investigate skeletal disease and bone health. She is a recipient of the NIH Pathways to Independence Award (K99/R00).
Wang laboratory will take an interdisciplinary approach that spans genetics, multi-omics, in vivo and in vitromodels, to characterize how aberrant factors can lead to skeletal disease and bone cancer. Previous and ongoing work 1) investigates the molecular program that regulates osteocytogenesis and bridges the gap between osteocyte development and human skeletal disease, and 2) reveals the regulatory role of transcription factors in bone cancer and develops novel transcription factor-targeted therapies. There are many exciting projects to work on and these projects will provide the opportunity to receive close mentorship and learn cutting-edge technologies, such as CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptome and multi-omics analysis. We are very open to new ideas and support the scientific and career development of lab members.
The research in Wang laboratory involves close collaboration with diverse scientists, clinicians, and members of the integrated multidisciplinary research environment within the CMMCR and across UT Southwestern. We value diversity in backgrounds and experience. We believe that diversity drives creativity and innovation, and we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive ecosystem where individual differences in academic, cultural and professional backgrounds are celebrated and respected.
Candidates with a PhD (MD or MD/PhD) degree in the biological and biomedical science and research experience in genetics, genomics, developmental and molecular biology, endocrinology or tumor biology should submit a C.V., a Cover Letter and names/emails of 3 references via email to: jialiang.wang@utsouthwestern.edu.
